John -- today is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving and unity that in the midst of this devastating pandemic has *never been more needed*.
In-home care workers, nannies, and house cleaners, the vast majority of which are working class women of color, have been essential workers on the frontlines of the pandemic since the beginning. Two-thirds of domestic and care workers have been cruelly excluded from government financial support. 8 MONTHS IN to the ongoing pandemic, and most are STILL struggling to pay their rent and put food on the table.
The pandemic has taken so much from so many, and has reinforced that we need to take care of one another...and that's exactly what our urgent work at NDWA is all about.
So please John, this #GivingTuesday make a critically needed donation to NDWA and our work to support in-home care workers, nannies, and house cleaners in this time of overwhelming need.
If you've saved your payment information with FastAction, your donation will go through immediately.
Since the first days of the pandemic, NDWA immediately sprung into action to support workers who have been directly impacted by coronavirus: to ensure these women -- and they’re almost always women paid minimum wages with barely any workplace protection -- can survive this crisis.
With your help, we've provided direct relief to thousands of vulnerable women and families, but the truth is the she-cession is hitting working class women of color hard. And as much as we're doing as an organization directly, this is a government sized problem that requires a government solution.
So, we are ALSO furiously pulling out all the stops in our advocacy and organizing to fight for a relief and economic recovery package -- one that ensures desperately needed financial support while investing in a new care infrastructure built around families, consumers and workers to power a recovery that helps us all.
On this special day of giving, I'd be so honored and thankful if you'd support our vital work with a donation. Can you make a gift today to support NDWA as we fight on multiple fronts for the people who care for us?
It's never been more clear that caregivers and domestic workers are essential to our lives. Caregivers and care workers have been on the frontlines of the pandemic. It's time we not only get them the support they need and show them the gratitude they deserve, but also make sure that everyone has access to care that enables all our families to thrive.
Thank you so much, for everything you do.
Sincerely,
Ai-jen Poo, Executive Director
