Dear friends and allies,

"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."

This quote from Dr. Martin Luther King has given me hope in times of despair, especially over the last four years. As we celebrate a bend toward justice for immigrants, for refugees, for BIPOC communities, for women, for LGBTQIA communities, for the disabled, for the poor, for us all, we recognize that this bend is not inevitable. Movement toward justice comes only with long, hard work. That work continues after the election.

We--as an organization, as a community, as a nation--must continue to push the arc toward justice. We must push for the new administration to immediately rescind the plethora of anti-immigrant policies implemented over the past few years. We must push for the full reinstatement of DACA and for pathways to citizenship.

As this difficult and painful year draws to a close, I extend ILCM's thanks to each and every one of you for your support. Time and time again, you demonstrate your dedication to our work and a hope for a better immigration system. Together we invested $$51,415 in hope this Give to the Max Day! You are partners in our work for immigrants and refugees, our partners in advocating for justice. Thank you for your financial support, without which we could not continue. Thank you for your volunteer support, which multiplies our capacity for representation. Thank you for your partnership in bending that arc toward justice.

Even during this raging pandemic, each and every day, we continue to counsel, advise, and support our immigrant and refugee communities as they navigate the immigration system. Our ILCM family has been touched more than once by COVID-19. Nonetheless, our work continues. And these difficult days are made more bearable because we know you have our back.

With gratitude,

Veena

Personal connections have been part of the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM) practice in Worthington since the beginning. In 2020, ILCM marks the 10th anniversary of our Worthington office. ILCM's presence in this small town in southwestern Minnesota actually began four years before the office opened.

Congratulations Oballa!
After completing his Certified Nursing Certificate in Sioux Falls, Oballa Oballa moved to Austin where ILCM assisted him in completing his citizen application. He was proudly naturalized in December of last year, but his story doesn't end there. While serving as a CNA at the Mayo Clinic as well as pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, two weeks ago Oballa became the first Black person elected to the Austin City Council!

End-of-year giving is just around the corner and ILCM is counting on you!
Our work to help our immigrant and refugee neighbors, friends, and the essential workers who hold our communities together in times of crisis will continue to be crucial in the coming year. As we look ahead to 2021, the work that ILCM has done for the past 24 years is now more important than ever before. December is an important month for ILCM because of end-of-year donations, which are equally as important as Give to the Max Day donations. Please consider adding ILCM to your year-end giving plan, and make a donation at [LINK] www.ilcm.org/donate.
