Hi John – I’m Kelsey. I recently came onboard as the Director of Finance and Administration for Women’s March. I usually don’t write emails like these, but today is special.
In a minute I’m going to ask you to make a contribution to our Giving Tuesday goal, but first I hope you’ll let me explain why your gift today is so important.
For many organizations like Women’s March, Giving Tuesday is a hugely important day. Often what we raise on Giving Tuesday determines a large portion of our budget for the next fiscal year.
We know that many people are struggling this year – but that’s what makes our work even more important. People – especially women – are struggling and it will take a mass movement like ours to demand a fundamental shift in our government. One that puts people first.
That’s why we’re doing something different this year and splitting every donation with Feeding America to support women who are struggling to put food on the table.
Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization with a network of 200 member food banks across the country.
Half of your donation will help food banks across the country as they support communities impacted by the pandemic. Every dollar enables food banks to secure the resources they need to serve the most vulnerable members of the community during this difficult time.
The other half of your donation will go directly to support our urgent get-out-the-vote operation in Georgia to flip the Senate, which is our best chance at securing long-term COVID relief for families.
Our goal this year is based on the number of donations – not how much we raise – because we know this year is especially difficult. A gift of any amount when added together with thousands of others can make a huge difference for a community food bank.
Please chip in any amount that you can this Giving Tuesday.
With thanks,
Kelsey Jackson
