John — I want to give you an update on Brady’s critical Giving Tuesday fundraising goal, but first, let me tell you why Brady’s work is so important to me.

I’m a gun violence survivor. My daughter, Jaime, was murdered by a gunman armed with a military-style assault weapon during the 2018 Parkland massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Ever since Jaime was murdered, I've dedicated my life to making sure no parent or family has to carry the loss that I do. Before she was hunted down in the halls, my biggest priority was getting my kids to school on time. Now, I fight every single day for the pragmatic, common-sense gun safety reforms that will save lives and prevent tragedies like Parkland.

That work includes taking on Mitch McConnell and the NRA’s shameful disregard for the safety of our children. Since Parkland, more than 2,000 children have died from gun violence. And Mitch McConnell? He embraced his nickname as the legislative “Grim Reaper” — he even fundraised around it. He made the Senate a graveyard for life-saving gun safety bills, like an assault weapons ban, which could have saved Jaime’s life.

That’s why Brady's work to pass life-saving, common-sense policies, hold gun manufacturers accountable in court, and take on Mitch McConnell and the NRA is so important. Brady is a gun violence prevention group run by gun violence survivors — advocates who know firsthand the weight millions of Americans carry because of this senseless violence and exactly how to stop it.

And I'm personally reaching out today for an important reason, John. Giving Tuesday is the most important fundraising day of the year for Brady, and at this critical moment, they're still falling $27,843 short of their goal. As a grassroots organization, they rely on donations from people like you — so how much they raise today determines how much they can do tomorrow:

So, please, John, will you rush $5 or more now — every dollar you can spare to have DOUBLED — to defeat the NRA, pass life-saving gun safety laws, and overcome the shameful inaction of Mitch McConnell? Every gift Brady raises today will help prevent more tragedies like Parkland — and ensure no family ever has to feel the loss I do every day.

Though the pain hasn't stopped since Jaime was murdered, I have hope for the first time in a while. We have two gun violence prevention champions on their way to the White House, and change is right around the corner — but not without your support today, John.

Each of us can power this movement, but if we're going to finally overcome the gun lobby, we need you fighting by our side. I hope you’ll join us and make a donation to this fight today.

Thank you.

Fred Guttenberg
