Hi John,
It’s Terri from Fight for the Future. Today is Giving Tuesday and we need 125 more people to donate today to stay on track to hit our budget goals for the year. Will you chip in?
You only hear from me a few times a year because I’m our Chief Financial Officer, so I mostly work in the background making sure our team of campaigners, policy experts, and technologists have the resources they need to fight important battles like restoring net neutrality, fighting Amazon’s surveillance empire, and defending online free expression.
Today is Giving Tuesday. It’s like Black Friday—but for donating to non-profits instead of buying stuff from corporations. It’s an important day for many organizations to get on track with fundraising goals as we approach the end of the year.
And this year we really need your help. With so many people out of work because of the pandemic, and so much attention and money that went into the 2020 election, we are heading into December more than $40,000 behind where we need to be to cover the costs of our campaigns in the coming year.
We know that so many people are struggling right now. So if you’re not able to give, we completely understand. But if you are one of the people who understands why our work is so important, and if you are lucky enough to be able to contribute—even if it’s something small—I’m asking you to please stretch and chip in as much as you can today.

I’ve kept the books for many nonprofits and companies over the years, and I can tell you that Fight for the Future is one of the most efficient and effective organizations I’ve ever seen. The team is intentionally small and we’ve always worked remotely to keep costs low. Every single person who works here truly believes in our mission, and it makes all the difference.
Whether we’re building custom tools to drive thousands of phone calls to lawmakers at just the right moment, getting quoted in major press outlets, crowdfunding billboards to call out corrupt politicians, or organizing massive online protests to defend Internet freedom and basic rights, we always focus on having the biggest impact we can with our tiny budget.
I’m not going to try to dazzle you with matching donations or special gimmicks. I’m just going to tell you like it is and ask for your help.
Small grassroots donations make up more than 60% of our budget, which means we’re counting on supporters like you to make our crucial work possible. Will you make a #GivingTuesday contribution today?
Thanks so much for all you do,
-Terri at Fight for the Future
