Members of the Louisiana Legislature announce support for proposed millages on December 5th ballot
(New Orleans) Today is the final day to request an absentee ballot ([link removed]) and Saturday is Election Day. Our city is facing many challenges as a result of the pandemic. We know that so many New Orleanians are hurting right now, and we feel your pain. That’s why it’s important that we don’t raise taxes. However, there are still many problems that we need to allocate funds to address. There are a series of millage measures on the ballot December 5 that will reallocate existing revenue to address the problems that we urgently need to solve without raising taxes.

Leaders from the Louisiana Legislature representing neighborhoods across New Orleans have announced their support for three ballot propositions that will help fund urgent needs in our community.

State Senators Joseph Bouie Jr. of the 3rd District and Karen Carter Peterson of the 5th District along with State Representatives Mack Cormier of the 105th District, Royce Duplessis of the 93rd District, and Candace Newell of the 99th District have all expressed their support for propositions 1, 2 and 3.

Our economy needs to be reinvigorated so we can recover from this pandemic. We need affordable housing so that all hard-working New Orleanians have a roof over their heads. We need to improve our infrastructure so that our city can be a safe and comfortable place to live. We need to fund childcare and education for young children so that they can grow into their full potential as citizens of our great city.
