Friend — today is Giving Tuesday, and we're coming up short on a major deadline.
Here's the situation: A donor has put up a massive $100,000 challenge grant for the League of Conservation Voters to run environmental campaigns into 2021. The catch is that it only kicks in if 2,000 LCV members donate before midnight tonight.
We're not on track to meet that goal — we're at 1,013 donations right now.
THERE'S A BIT OF A LOOPHOLE: Small donations count just as much as big ones towards meeting the goal. If everyone reading this right now pitched in just $5, we'd blow through the goal before Giving Tuesday ends at midnight.
We need your help, Friend. Please, please, please — donate to LCV today, even $5 can make a difference »

2020 GIVING TUESDAY CHALLENGE
EMAIL: [email protected]
GOAL: 2,000 donations by midnight on Giving Tuesday
PROGRESS: 51% to goal
STATUS: STILL PENDING — DONATE TODAY »
I hope you'll pitch in — we're really up against a lot right now. Bottom line — hitting this goal matters SO, so much. Here are a few reasons why:
- Because the Trump administration has issued an official "call for nominations" to oil companies — asking them to select areas in the Arctic they would like to lease for drilling. If Trump fast-tracks these leases, it may be too late to stop the process. We still have a shot at blocking this, but it needs to happen now. You can help. Make a donation to LCV today »
- Because Trump just made Alaska's Tongass National Forest up for grabs for logging and other forms of development. This forest is considered the lungs of North America. The Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian people depend on the forest as part of their home and their heritage — and Trump stripped protections that had been in place for nearly two decades. We have to turn this around, but the only way that happens is if the environmental movement mobilizes in a major way. We need YOUR help »
- Because Trump has removed the scientist responsible for the National Climate Assessment, replacing him with a climate change denier. More firings are expected in the final weeks of Trump's presidency — we need to be ready to fight each and every one of them — and be ready to push Biden to restore scientific integrity to federal agencies. Please — donate today. Even $5 can make a huge difference »
- Because the environmental movement needs to be ready on day 1 of the Biden administration. Biden won with a huge mandate to tackle climate change. But the only way we translate that into serious progress is by aggressive campaigning. We need to block Trump now, and set up Biden to move quickly on climate as soon as he's inaugurated. Friend — I want you to know just how much your support matters. Please, donate today »
Friend — if we can get 2,000 donations before Giving Tuesday and unlock the $100,000 challenge grant, it's a gamechanger for each and every one of these campaigns. The ONLY way we can do that is with your help — I really hope you'll pitch in today. Remember — gifts of any amount count, even if they're just $5.
Please, donate today, before the midnight deadline »
We wouldn't be able to do this work without your help, friend. Thank you for your generosity, and everything that you do for the environment.
Sincerely,
LCV Rapid Response Team
