Rt Hon Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP of the DUP appeals to delegates at the 2019 SPUC Conference.

Dear SPUC Supporter,

Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP, Chief Whip of the DUP, told the 2019 SPUC National conference ([link removed]) at the weekend that the support of people in England, Wales and Scotland is needed to stop abortion being imposed on Northern Ireland.

Sir Jeffrey's clarion call came during the launch of the Society’s biggest ever grassroots campaign to resist abortion. If we don't act, one of the most extreme abortion regimes in Europe will be imposed on Northern Ireland on 21 October, with no consultation with the people there.


** Write to your MP

Please write to your MP, reminding him or her that the Good Friday Agreement commits Westminster to respecting the right of the people of Northern Ireland to decide for themselves what their law on abortion will be. Ask your MP to write to Julian Smith MP, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, urging him to recall the Assembly before 21 October and allow abortion law to be decided by the elected representatives of Northern Ireland.

** Petition for people in Northern Ireland

For people in Northern Ireland only, we have launched a petition campaign ([link removed]) , calling on the DUP, the leading pro-life political party in Northern Ireland to return to Stormont immediately and to challenge the other parties to join them. Only the formation of the Northern Ireland Executive by 21 October can stop this abortion legislation in its tracks.
