Dear friend, Let’s be frank. You know it and I know it. SAM is the “little engine that could.” Faced with innumerable odds – a massive, multi-billion dollar for-profit industry against us, and few, if any, other organizations singularly focused and funded to take them on systematically – we are a little team with a big bite. That is why I am asking for you to double your impact this year. It won’t make headlines, but we have stopped seventeen pot legalization bills this year, produced the most comprehensive report on marijuana outcomes to date, prevented the SAFE Banking Act from moving in the Senate, helped pass the Medical Marijuana Research Act out of a crucial Congressional committee, had language introduced to raise awareness over marijuana impaired driving, and defeated numerous efforts to include Big Pot giveaways in both standalone legislation and as part of large appropriations bills. We’ve also conducted more than 100 webinars and talks since we went virtual. Thanks to your efforts, far more legalization bills have been defeated across the country than have passed. All of this would have been impossible without the help of dedicated supporters such as you. On this Giving Tuesday, could you pledge to help us keep up the fight as we begin to look to the new year with a tax-deductible gift today? A generous supporter has pledged to match all donations — dollar for dollar — up to $20,000, meaning you could instantly double your impact. Even in the midst of a global pandemic, the weed industry has tried to take advantage of our collective hardship by claiming pot is an “essential business” and even a “cure” for the coronavirus. Remarkably, even though our leaders have so much work to do on this pandemic and its impact, pro-pot lobbyists have managed to get a vote on legalization in the House this week, although it won’t go anywhere after that. Friend, as I said last week, I am so thankful for you and everything you have done to help further our goal of fighting Big Pot and its addiction-for-profit scheme. Please consider continuing your support with a tax-deductible gift today.
