This is a frightening moment. But together, we have the power to defend and protect our country.

Dear John,

Let’s start with the good news: In 2020, Americans voted at the highest rate in 120 years.

Now, the troubling news: Our democracy is at a crossroads. Donald Trump tried to overrule the will of the people — and rewrite the outcome of the election.

In the weeks since, with all of Trump’s frenzied tweets and lawsuits, there has been a common thread: an ugly effort to delete the votes of Black people living in major cities. It’s the same voter suppression we’ve had to fight for years.

We cannot stand by quietly — or simply assume that the media, a political party, or any other group out there will hold them to account. It’s on us to save our democracy.

We raised over $50,000 on Giving Tuesday in 2019 — but the threats we face now demand we do better, by at least doubling that figure. Can you give $10 today?
