It's Giving Tuesday, a global day of unity and giving. Your help is more urgently needed than ever before this year.
COVID-19 has made the lives of millions of people already living in poverty exponentially worse. The virus and its economic impacts have pushed families who were barely scraping by to the brink of starvation. In short, it's the final straw before falling into long-term poverty.
That's why we've set a goal to raise $150,000 this Giving Tuesday – and thanks to support from a group of anonymous donors, every dollar you give can be DOUBLED. Donate TODAY on Giving Tuesday to multiply your impact toward ending poverty. >>
It's not hard to understand what's happening – but it is heartbreaking. The worldwide economic decline and mass unemployment this year, on top of ongoing conflict, climate change, inequality, and a broken food system, means that millions of people are nearly starving.
Oxfam and our partner organizations are responding to COVID-19 in countless ways. Delivering clean water and soap to prevent the spread of the virus. Providing food aid and cash to help families get through this new hunger crisis. Advocating for governments to change the systems holding people in poverty. It's not enough. 121 million more people are at risk of going hungry this year due to the pandemic – we urgently need more Oxfam community members to help address COVID-19 and keep up our work against poverty around the world.
Your gift can help a person living in poverty survive these disasters and rebuild stronger. And today, on Giving Tuesday, your impact will be DOUBLED: help us raise $150,000 to get critical support to people who need it most.
Thank you for being part of the Oxfam community, on this day dedicated to giving back.
Sincerely,
Abby Maxman
