Hi Friend,

Mia Wagner came to the Child Mind Institute years ago, when she was struggling to say a single word at school. Through our financial aid program, Mia received treatment for selective mutism and learned to use her voice to speak up in class and make friends.

“I got my voice back by my doctor helping me...
It feels good being able to speak up for myself.”

This year, Mia started high school during the coronavirus pandemic. While remote learning presents challenges, she is adapting, maintaining friendships and checking in with her clinician every few months through telehealth.

In March, to continue serving children and families around the country safely, the Child Mind Institute pivoted to telehealth and found creative ways to broaden our impact, such as Facebook Lives hosted by our expert clinicians. While our offices are back open with added health and safety measures, we continue to offer telehealth services, which will extend the reach of our clinical care for years to come.
