Just yesterday, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer stood up for anti-choice
Democrats — insisting that they had a place in our party, despite our
collective fight for women’s rights:

He’s wrong. And his lack of conviction is giving cover to anti-choice
politicians like Dan Lipinski, who have actively fought the progression of
equal rights, access to women’s health care, and much more.

And because Steny Hoyer refuses to call out the anti-choice cowards in our
caucus, our job gets that much harder. But we’re no strangers to a fight,
and we’re not afraid of one either.

other anti-progressive politicians across the country. We operate solely

These comments came just a day after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez endorsed
Marie Newman’s primary challenge to Dan Lipinski — clearly displaying that
Democratic Leaders will defend even some of the worst of their incumbents
over fresh, new progressive leaders.

But this isn’t a surprise to us. The DCCC has always stood by Dan
Lipinski, even after he voted against the Affordable Care Act, refused to
endorse Obama in 2012, and became the sole Democratic co-chair of the
Congressional Pro-Life caucus.

This struggle is the embodiment of the “any blue will do” mentality — and
the DCCC is more than happy to wield their power to harm progressive
challengers, scare away staffers, and stop progress in its tracks. They
have no qualms about tipping the scales of Democratic primaries.

Here’s the reality: the Democratic Party of the future looks like
Alexandria, Ilhan, Ayanna, Rashida, Jessica, and Jamaal — not Dan
Lipinski, Henry Cuellar, or Steny Hoyer.

If they’re going to spend their time fighting for the Democrats of the
past, that means we have to fight even harder to elect the Democrats of
the future.
