Justin Trudeau and the Liberal team will continue to do whatever it takes to keep Canadians healthy and to support Canadian workers, families, small businesses, and the most vulnerable. That includes:
Investing in our emergency health response, including rapid testing, PPE, and a new long term care fund;
Ensuring every Canadian can be confident they will have access to an effective vaccine, for free, once it's ready;
Supporting businesses with a 75% wage subsidy, and a new stream of credit supports for hard-hit sectors including tourism, hospitality, and arts and culture; and
Providing further support to Canadian families with young children through an increased Canada Child Benefit.
When the virus is under control the Liberal government will make targeted and meaningful investments to build back better with a stronger and more resilient economy. That includes laying the groundwork for a Canada-wide child-care system, putting climate action at the centre of the Liberal government’s plan to create a million jobs, and bolstering training for those hardest hit by the pandemic – including racialized Canadians and marginalized communities.
