I wanted to make sure you've heard: The Trump Administration is planning to conduct massive ICE raids nationwide targeting immigrant families.

Raids targeting undocumented immigrants who have been in the United States for years and without criminal records is a terrible waste of resources, serving only to break up families and spread fear. Of course for Trump, the cruelty is just another reason to go forward.

As I continue to work alongside Democrats and push for humane immigration policies in the House, I want to share a basic list of rights with you from United We Dream. Regardless of immigration status, it's important that our friends and neighbors know that they have rights, and this information may be essential in avoiding more family separations. I know that the Trump Administration's policies are creating a climate of fear in our immigrant communities. I've met with educators and community leaders who've told me about the fears that young people have that their parents will be taken from them. I've spoken to law enforcement about how it makes their jobs more difficult when people fear reporting crimes to the authorities because of immigration status.

We have to do better, for our communities, for asylum seekers, for children at the border, and for our nation. We will do everything in our power to kick Trump and those who have enabled him out of office in 2020, but until then we must continue to fight for dignity and justice for our immigrant neighbors.
