A Huge Victory – and More Work to Do

2020 has indeed been a challenging year for so many and, despite the obstacles we’re facing, People For members have stepped up in significant ways.
Thousands of People For members volunteered by contacting MILLIONS of voters in battleground states across the country. In addition to plugging in with our in-house voter contact programs, People For members heavily participated in unprecedented efforts to get out the vote with phone calls, text messages, and letters.
And finally, after four exhausting years of President Donald Trump and four excruciating days of vote counting, the election was called for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
When news came that Pennsylvania had put Biden over the top it sparked dancing in the streets and tears of joy in many households.

The New Supreme Court Hears Republicans’ Latest Challenge to Health Care
When Senate Republicans rammed Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination through, one of their main goals was to have her on the Supreme Court in time to hear oral arguments in the case challenging the Affordable Care Act, California v. Texas. The American people saw this, and that is one reason that a majority of voters who considered the Supreme Court an important factor in their vote chose Joe Biden over Donald Trump, a change from previous elections when conservative and Republican voters cared more about the Court.

Right Wing Watch: 'Million MAGA March' Draws Thousands to Gathering of Pro-Trump Conspiracy Theorists
Going by “Million MAGA March,” “Stop the Steal,” and “March for Trump,” the rally-march event was portrayed by GOP political operative Ali Alexander as an organic uprising of Americans who believe the presidential election was “stolen” from President Donald Trump. In reality, it was an astroturfed campaign pulled together by Alexander, who has ties to Roger Stone and Steve Bannon, to push a false narrative of voter fraud and cast doubt on the integrity of the election. On display was how much the right—and Republican Party under Trump—have embraced what in the past would have been considered its most fringe elements.

Falsehoods & Failures: Trump During COVID-19
The number of new cases in the U.S. rose every day in the past month; we saw an increase of more than a million new cases between November 8-14; and case numbers are currently rising in all 50 states.
This is the worst outbreak of the year, and we’re only just beginning the winter season in most of the country, which will lead to even greater community spread as cold weather forces people indoors and as families inevitably gather, against public health officials’ advice, for the holidays. Trump, however, made no attempt to support his administration’s health officials in their recommendations, even attempting to reinstate public holiday celebrations that had been canceled due to safety concerns amid the pandemic’s surge.
