Before we hit the end of the month in a few hours, I wanted to touch base with you on how important your support is at this very moment.
Right now, as we transition into our first term in Congress, the number-one thing our campaign needs is a regular, strong financial base in order to continue winning, keep seats, and hold influence in Washington.
If we are unable to grow our fundraising numbers and sustain our campaign, this movement we worked so hard to build will be left vulnerable in the next election cycle.
John, let's not forget that three out of the four Squad members — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib — had competitive challengers in the 2020 elections.
After AOC, Ilhan, and Rashida won their seats in 2018, many questioned whether or not they would be able to win again. The three of them faced challenges from Republican and political establishment insurgents who raised millions of dollars and unleashed attack ads.
Ultimately, AOC, Ilhan, and Rashida were re-elected to their respective seats — but none of their re-elections were easy victories. They were only able to win re-election because they all had a strong, reliable financial base that fueled their critical grassroots work, from organizing to legislating.
That's why we need to work — starting now — to build up a grassroots-funded warchest. The best way to do that is with monthly contributions.
