=============================

John,

As we prepare for a new year and a new presidential administration, austerity in our cities is the next great hurdle we must confront to build a democracy that truly includes us all. What would happen if, instead of slashing services and pitting small businesses against public health measures, we invested in public health services and supporting our teachers and schools?

Join the Partnership for Working Families on Friday, December 4 [[link removed]] at 1 pm EST for an exciting conversation with leaders who are building resilience in their communities and experimenting with more inclusive models of government in the U.S. and abroad. We will discuss how austerity is already shaping our cities and how we can address the particular challenges that Black and brown communities, particularly Black and brown women, face in the midst of austerity and the pandemic.

Our distinguished speakers, who are fighting for their communities’ right to thrive, are:

* Stacy Davis Gates, Vice President, Chicago Teachers Union

* Michelle Healy, Geographic Campaigns Director, SEIU

* Bishop Dwayne D. Royster, Interim Executive Director, POWER Interfaith

* Jessica González, District Councillor of Ciutat Vella, City of Barcelona

We hope you’ll join us! Please register in advance to receive the zoom link [[link removed]] .

In the meantime, please take care of yourselves, your families, your friends and your communities.

In solidarity,

Lauren Jacobs
