Grateful for You
Thanksgiving looked different for many families this year, but it didn’t change the meaning behind the holiday – expressing gratitude for the blessings in our lives, even amongst hardship. I am especially grateful for our healthcare heroes, our teachers, and all the frontline workers who have faced a particularly challenging year. And I am grateful for all the Hoosiers who make our state great. I hope you had a restful and safe Thanksgiving, and I hope you will remain vigilant throughout the holiday season.

Defending Indiana-Grown Salmon and Jobs
Last week, I sent a letter with members of the Indiana delegation voicing concern against provisions and unnecessary regulatory requirements that unfairly target salmon raised right here in Indiana. The letter warns such action against Indiana-grown salmon would harm the state of Indiana and the future of biotechnology.
Provisions unfairly targeting the bioengineered salmon due to reasons other than safety and efficacy are not based on science, sound policy, or law, and would impose undue regulatory burdens that ultimately waste taxpayer dollars without any benefit to the public. Further, this action sends the wrong message to industries that are working to develop innovations in agricultural biotechnology and food security. Indiana plays a key role in the agricultural industry and strongly values the possibilities that aquaculture and biotechnology bring to our economy.
Small Business Saturday
It has been a trying year for many of Indiana’s small and independent businesses. Last Saturday, I encouraged all Hoosiers to shop small on Small Business Saturday and all season long. On the federal level, I am continuing to fight for my RESTART Act to help the hardest-hit businesses survive. Click here to learn more.
