As much as I’d love to sit back and bask in the glory of winning the White House, the Virginia GOP made this one of the shortest political honeymoons in recent memory. Delegate Kirk Cox, the former Speaker of the House who lost his party’s majority in 2019, has decided to run for Governor.

We saw this year that Republican turnout spiked across the Commonwealth. In fact, Donald Trump won more votes in Virginia this year than Governor Ralph Northam did in 2017. Republicans are going to do everything they can to drive up enthusiasm to recreate their coalition next November, and running right-wing extremists like Kirk Cox is their best way to do it.

I know we just got through a hard-fought election, and supporters like you were crucial to our wins up and down the ballot. But in Virginia there’s an election every year and we have to keep our momentum up now:

- 2019 was the opportunity to take the majority in the General Assembly
- 2020 was the year to beat Trump and restore America’s dignity
- 2021 is the year we solidify all our wins and make sure our Commonwealth stays blue

All the progress we’ve made in the last few years has the potential to be undone in less than a year. Cox and other members of the GOP are sure to lob lies at and slander our candidates for the entirety of 2021. Will you chip in $5 to reinforce our foundation and help us start fighting back?
