Dear Ward 8 Residents,
Last week, I had the pleasure to serve Ward 8 residents alongside dozens of volunteers for my annual Ward 8 Wide Turkey Giveaway. This event carries on the legacy and tradition of the late Mayor for Life, Marion S. Barry.
This event was held in 8 locations throughout the Ward. Each site distributed turkeys, produce and pantry items to residents in need. We served a total of 2,200 turkeys, 1,530 boxes of pantry items and 40 pallets of produce.
It takes a village to make events like this possible. Thanks to the hard-working volunteers, the community-based organizations and our charitable sponsors, we were able to relieve some of the burden on families in the ward. This is what the holiday season is about.
Regards,
Trayon White, Sr.
