This year, voters rejected the NRA and Donald Trump’s shameful inaction by electing Brady-endorsed gun violence prevention champions Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House.

Across the country, Brady worked with state legislatures to embrace gun safety reform: In California, the legislature passed a first-of-its-kind microstamping bill to solve gun crimes. In Colorado, legislators passed one of the most comprehensive police reform measures in the country. And in Virginia, we ushered in the passage of 10 gun violence prevention measures.

Across these many gun safety victories one thing remains clear: We are on the cusp of historic change –– and we cannot lose our sense of urgency, because lives are on the line.

With Joe Biden in the White House, we’re certain we can take bold steps to pass universal background checks and a new assault weapons ban. We know because we've worked with Biden before to pass the Brady Bill and the very first federal assault weapons ban — measures the NRA fought, but we won. And truthfully, we’re about to give the NRA some of its worst defeats in decades.

In 2020, we saw a 73% increase in estimated gun sales. We saw more than 300 mass shootings, and the year isn't even over. And every single day, more than 300 people are shot and more than 100 die by gunfire. That’s why we’re ready to hit the ground running to work with President-elect Biden to take immediate action against gun violence via executive action in his first 100 days.
