2020 has been a crazy and difficult year for all of us - including for giraffe.
These gentle giants need our help now more than ever!
That's why we at GCF continue to work hard to secure a future for all giraffe in Africa. If you want to find out how exactly we are doing this, visit our website, check out our programmes, have a look at our latest
Annual Report or get in touch.
While many of us are still stuck at home, giraffe are on the move!
We are excited to let you know that Operation Twiga V is underway in Uganda! Thanks to YOUR support on World Giraffe Day 2020, a second translocation of critically endangered Nubian
giraffe to Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve is underway at this very moment. Stay tuned for more updates soon!
But there is more good news to share: recently, we also moved ten giraffe to Somkhanda Community Game Reserve in South Africa to give the small existing giraffe population a boost. This translocation is not only good news for giraffe but also for the local community who owns the reserve. A healthy giraffe population has the potential to attract more tourists, which in turn will provide employment opportunities and income for the local community.
A win win for all partners involved!
And as we all love to share good news and see giraffe on the move, we have compiled a short video!
