FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2020 RAPHAEL WARNOCK TRIVIALIZED THE OPIOID EPIDEMIC WITH RACIALLY CHARGED, ANTI-CAPITALIST RHETORIC ATLANTA – Newly uncovered footage reveals that Raphael Warnock insulted the victims of the opioid epidemic, stating that the only reason this devastating crisis is considered a "public health emergency" is because "the faces of the human tragedy are white and suburban." Warnock then claimed that the epidemic exists because people are "self-medicating" to overcome the "spiritual sickness" of "religion garbed in the garments of capitalism." "Instead of taking a unifying stand to tackle one of the biggest crises plaguing our country, Raphael Warnock has again chosen to divide the people Georgia and trivialize the suffering of so many by attacking capitalism and using racially charged language," said Deputy Campaign Manager Stephen Lawson. "While Warnock blames the victims of the opioid epidemic and uses their tragedy to trash capitalism, Kelly Loeffler has taken action in the Senate to crack down on opioid trafficking. Unlike her opponent, she will continue taking this crisis seriously and fighting for additional resources to help combat this epidemic." This legislation increases penalties for dealers intentionally misrepresenting their product as non-fentanyl. It also allows prosecutors to pursue the death penalty for dealers who include fentanyl in their product for the deliberate purpose of causing death. It also makes permanent the DEA's scheduling of synthetic fentanyl drugs as controlled substances.
