Dear supporters –

We are approaching the end of an uncertain and unprecedented year. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, school districts across the nation closed and students took up remote virtual learning.

But throughout it all, Stand with Parkland – The National Association of Families for Safe Schools remained dedicated to ensuring students and staff have the resources they need to stay safe both in the classroom and online.

Our uniquely inclusive, nonpartisan approach has allowed us to work with lawmakers at all levels of government and on both sides of the aisle. Because of our efforts, we have seen practical steps taken toward safety in schools across the country.

Here are a few highlights from the year:

  • We participated in the U.S. Secret Service's National Threat Assessment Center training sessions on using Behavioral Threat Assessment to proactively prevent school violence. Over 4,000 mental health, school, and law enforcement professionals were trained on how to use this vital tool to get kids the help they need before violence strikes.
  • We helped create SchoolSafety.gov, a one-stop-shop for those charged with the safety of America’s schools to find the information they need.
  • We partnered with Safer Schools Together to train over 75 people from schools and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to accurately identify online threats and keep students and teachers safe.
  • We participated in roundtable discussions to bring the federal School Safety Clearinghouse to life. This collection of school safety “best practices” was first envisioned by one of our founding members, Max Schachter.
  • We consulted with the Departments of Health and Human Services, Justice, Homeland Security, and Education, which came together as the President of the United States focused the power of his office on ensuring the safety of American students and teachers.
  • We enhanced and added to our Resources page to allow you to find information regarding a variety of topics, research, and reports regarding improving campus security, mental health screening and support programs, and responsible firearms ownership all in one place.

COVID-19 has disrupted nearly every facet of American life – including our schools. And we, like many others, shifted plans in the wake of the pandemic. The generous support of our donors allows us to continue our nonpartisan work for school safety. Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, an international day of charitable giving where anyone, anywhere can make a difference.

We are asking for your help. Will you make a difference by supporting our mission to make America’s schools safer and contribute to Stand with Parkland?

Students and staff might be away from the classroom, but their safety and security is no less important and they deserve our support during this difficult time. If you are able, please consider contributing today to support our work.

Thank you,
