John, Right now, LGBT Virginians can be denied service in public places like restaurants, shops, and even doctor’s offices, just because of who they are. What does this mean? What is included under "public places?" How does this impact businesses and communities? These are just a few of the questions that have come up regarding this new piece of legislation. Ann Murdoch served 24 years in the US Army, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and received many awards for her service. Bianca Humady Rey works as an Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Specialist and is also a devoted advocate and speaker for transgender people, including serving as the Chair of Capital Trans Pride. Raymond Eck is a small business owner and recently graduated from George Mason University with a Masters in Education with a focus in Counseling and Development. The Honorable Lawrence Webb is currently in his second term as a member of the City of Falls Church School Board, where he served as Chair of the board from 2017 to 2019. Cathryn Oakley is the State Legislative Director and Senior Counsel at the Human Rights Campaign where she is responsible for advising legislators and advocates working to enact laws that further LGBTQ equality. Rev. Daniel Willson has served as the Senior Pastor at Williamsburg Baptist Church since 2015 in addition to being a community organizer and writer.
