Every day, millions of Americans -- both with and without insurance -- struggle to afford health care. It forces families into making impossible decisions: Seniors split pills to cut health costs so they can make rent. Young adults put off treating depression because they can’t afford to pay a therapist. There have even been reports of parents waiting in emergency room parking lots to see if their kids go from bad to worse before facing the expense of stepping inside.

We pay, on average, over $5,000 more per person every year than other developed countries -- and we don’t have better health to show for it. Something has to change, and under a Buttigieg administration, it will.
