A record number of Emmy nominations

2019 brings a record number of Emmy nominations for HEC Media, including "Overall Excellence," considered by many as a top award. This makes HEC Media the only station in St. Louis nominated for this award. Overall, HEC has been nominated for 23 Mid-America Emmys.

Chronic itch? Arthritis drug can help

Karen Berger suffered from chronic itch and no one could diagnose her. Until she met Dr. Brian Kim at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and he recommended an anti-inflammatory drug called Xeljanz.

The new exhibits at the Contemporary Art Museums explores themes related to citizenship, nationhood, identity, loss and social status and include photographs, videos, sculptures, paintings, and more.

Connecting trauma victims to art

CommUNITY Arts STL is a nonprofit that connects kids from Washington University’s Life Outside of Violence (LOV) initiative to arts programs across St. Louis. By covering tuition costs and providing free transportation (via CAB, the CommUNITY Arts Bus), CommUNITY Arts STL breaks down barriers and provides an opportunity to take classes in dance, visual art, theater, and music.

Karl Luthin is a full-time veterinarian in Illinois, and when he's not taking care of sick horses, he is a Hollywood wrangler who handles large breeds of animals in the film industry. You can see his work in Lincoln and Second Hand Lions.

Once a year, black powder cannon enthusiasts get together at an old fort in Prairie Du Rocher, Illinois to learn how to shoot a cannon safely. Whether they are first-timers or old pros, everyone has a blast!

Constructing Park-Like at Pulitzer

With a focus on the future and sustainability, the Pulitzer Arts Foundation is turning the lot across the street from their gallery into a rain garden. They’ve commissioned Studio Land Arts to construct the multilevel landscape in an endeavor which combines an environmentally concerned art practice with contractual work.
