I want to start by saying thank you -- you are part of the incredible community of supporters who make our work at the NDRC possible. Thanks to your generous contributions, we have made incredible progress toward our goal of ending gerrymandering. But now comes our toughest challenge -- can I count on your support as we head into the redistricting fight in 2021?

We're entering redistricting in a much stronger place than we did 10 years ago. In 2011, Republicans held total control of the redistricting process in battleground states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Virginia, and North Carolina. And with total control of the redistricting process in these six states, the GOP went on to manipulate the maps and give their party an advantage in more than two-thirds of the 79 congressional districts across these politically competitive states.

Because of our work, we are better positioned to fight for fair maps, with Democratic allies in these states. Fair map advocates have successfully broken up Republican control, passed reforms to make the process more fair, or supported successful litigation that set legal precedent against gerrymandering in all six of them, ensuring a more fair process when maps are drawn next year.

The NDRC has worked hard to increase the number of Democratic voices involved in the redistricting process. Now, as we head into 2021, we must demand accountability and transparency from all elected officials as the maps are drawn.

It's critical that we get this right, friend. If the GOP is left unchecked, we know they will manipulate maps again ahead of the 2022 midterms. This could allow Republicans to draw themselves back into control of Congress, which would be disastrous to the future of the Biden-Harris administration and our nation.

This is the moment we've been working toward. This is the fairness we've been fighting for. Will you stand with the NDRC today by making your first contribution to the fight for fair maps?
