After my abortion, I breathed a huge sigh of relief.
All in all, it was uneventful. I was a junior in college at the time and found a doctor in the yellow pages. I went to an office with my boyfriend, and the procedure was painless. I didn’t have to drive far, nobody provided me with misinformation, and there was no waiting period.
Decades later, I still have no regrets. And I still have gratitude that I was able to make the decision that was right for me, and to become a parent when I was ready. I am now the proud mother of two children, one with a disability, with my husband of 25 years.
All people deserve the right to make this important decision for themselves. That’s why I’m speaking out against the escalating attempts to rob us of this fundamental and constitutional right. And that’s why I’m reaching out to you now.
