This week, Parliament will continue its negotiations with the EU Council Presidency on MFF-related programmes and the 2021 EU budget. Throughout the week, MEPs will take part in committee meetings addressing issues such as climate change, the rule of law, EU asylum policy and workers’ rights. On Wednesday, the Commission is expected to publish the European Democracy Action Plan. A number of Council meetings are taking place this week, several of which will be dealing with the EU’s foreign relations.



On Wednesday, the European Movement International, in partnership with the European Women’s Lobby, will hold the 5th edition of the Women of Europe Awards <[link removed]>, highlighting the contribution of women in advancing European integration and promoting EU values. Ahead of the Award ceremony, a virtual discussion <[link removed]> on protecting and empowering women online will take place on Tuesday afternoon.

European Parliament



This week, the Environment, Public Health and Food Security Committee will vote on an EU Strategy on adapting to Climate Change. On Tuesday, the Civil Liberties Committee will discuss the latest developments on procedures linked to Article 7.1 of the Treaty on EU and LGBTI rights in Hungary and Poland. On Tuesday, the Committee of Legal Affairs and the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality will discuss the impact of intimate partner violence and custody rights on women and children.

On Wednesday, the Commission is expected to adopt and publish the European Democracy Action Plan and the Media and Audiovisual Action Plan. Moreover, it will present a new strategy for the implementation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and a communication on the digitalisation of the justice systems.

Today, an informal meeting of the members of the Stabilisation and Association Council takes place to review the state of relations between the EU and Kosovo. On Tuesday, the 23rd meeting between the EU and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) takes place. On Wednesday, EU health ministers will meet via video conference to discuss the current situation in Europe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
