Dear John, Today is my last day as Campaign Manager for our amazing 2020 campaign team. And one of the final things I wanted to do was say a massive thank you to all of you - the supporters that made our historic result possible and that made this campaign so rewarding to be a part of. This has been the best job I’ve ever had - working with a wonderful team, for a cause I deeply believe in and for an inspiring Prime Minister. But it’s also been great because, through every minute of it, I’ve known there’s been a whole army of volunteers and supporters around the country who have walked with us on this journey. Who believed so passionately in the cause and who dug deep to support our campaign and make it their own. So whenever things got a bit unpredictable - and it is 2020, so there were a couple of challenging moments - I’d look at our field numbers, or our volunteer sign-ups, our grassroots donations, and be reminded of the powerful movement we were building. Together, we achieved a history-making result that will change our country for the better. But the result alone actually isn’t the thing I’m proudest of this year. What I’m most proud of is that literally thousands of people who took political action for the first time. We had candidates who had never thought of standing for public office before, volunteers who had never knocked on a door or made a phone call but who made the choice to get involved, grassroots donors who had never supported a political party before but who helped us out when we needed it most. If that was you - thank you and please keep doing it. This is our country and our democracy and what’s great about it is you can make such a big difference if you get involved. Your efforts this year delivered a majority Labour Government, the first in our history under MMP. That will mean more state houses and homes for people who need it, more lunches in schools for our kids, faster action on climate change, higher wages for working people and a stronger, more stable Government as we rebuild and recover from COVID-19. You made that possible. Over the next three years, there will be other opportunities for you to help build on our momentum - be it getting involved in local issues, groups in your community, local political campaigns or staying part of our movement as we work towards 2023. John, thank you so much for everything you’ve done this year. Together, we kept New Zealand moving in the right direction. It was a real honour to be a part of this movement and I can’t thank you enough. Regards, Hayden Munro P.S. I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t end this message by reminding everyone that, while the 2020 election may be behind us, our campaigning doesn’t stop now. 2023 will likely be an even harder campaign and we need to start the work of building up for it now. So if you can, one way you can help us get ready is by becoming a recurring donor. This gives our campaign team certainty about the income we will have and makes all the difference when we are doing important planning over the next few years. And think of it this way - without me there to bug you, it’s a great way to remember to donate to Labour and keep growing the movement we’ve built together! A short note on donations: Over the next three years, the Labour Party has a really important role to play by amplifying the achievements and hard work of our Labour team in Government. But to do that we need to make sure we have the resources in place to be able to run strong digital campaigns, recruit and train our volunteers and connect with communities across the country. John, we’re proud to be a truly people-powered Party, and it will only be through the generosity of thousands of supporters like you chipping in what you can that we’ll be able to keep up the momentum we’ve started. If you can, please click the button below to make a donation to our Party today so we can keep growing our movement, from now until election 2023. Our campaigning doesn’t stop now.
