Hi there,

Vox: “AAPI voters are far from a monolith, and although the majority aligned themselves with Democrats in the presidential election, Trump still picked up roughly a third of the group.”

It’s no fluke that Trump was able to win over this massive portion of Asian and Pacific American voters this election cycle. Despite his racist rhetoric throughout the presidential campaign cycle -- such as calling COVID-19 the “China virus” and “kung flu” -- Vox reports that he was still able to gain support among key immigrant groups and paint himself as an appealing candidate to voters who valued his anti-communist stance against China and his support of Indian Prime Minister Modi.

We know that Biden ended up being the overwhelming favorite among the Asian-American electorate -- and, with the help of our communities, he won, alongside the first ever AAPI politician in the White House, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. But Republicans are starting to realize the importance and power that AAPI voters hold. They’ve started to increase their investment in the AAPI community in the last 10 years, and a large segment of AAPI voters -- 25% to be exact -- identify as politically independent, meaning that increased Republican attention could sway them to the side of the GOP.

If you’d like to see Democrats keep fighting for the AAPI community, then we need to get to work right away -- and you, friend, can help us do that. After a grueling election cycle, we’re facing two years of uphill battles and shoestring budgets. Please, in order to preserve the progress we made this year and energize even more AAPI voters in 2022 and beyond, donate now. >> [link removed]
