The division Republicans have built has distracted us from the issues that matter most. The coronavirus pandemic has now taken the lives of over 250,000 Americans. A growing economic crisis threatens to permanently impact millions of working families. Small businesses are struggling to stay afloat. Calls for racial justice are falling on deaf ears. The climate crisis draws nearer and nearer to us each day.
And through all this, many of us have felt powerless while Republicans traded the lives of everyday Americans for power in Washington. But the truth is, we’ve shown it won’t be this way forever -- not if we band together.
As POLITICO reports, in 2020 people like you completely reshaped politics and turned civic engagement into an “overwhelming force” that has allowed us to expand the map of what’s possible and give a voice to new candidates who wouldn’t otherwise stand a chance.
But Republicans are making their comeback. As POLITICO further reports, the GOP “leaned heavily on mega-donors to make up the gap.” And now, those donors and a series of super PACs like Trump’s newest “Save America” PAC are looking to sway public opinion toward the GOP’s far-right priorities in Biden’s administration. And we simply don’t have the funds we need right now to fight Republican dark money.
