Hi John,

Robin Givhan at The Washington Post had some harsh criticism -- and a perfect analysis -- of Trump post-election:

This “well-fed white man in a golf cart at a private club” is truly the “classic metaphor for privilege and disregard -- and sometimes establishment ineptness -- and one that is also terribly apt for Trump. While the pandemic rages across the country, the president works on his swing. While images of unemployed Americans in seemingly endless food lines sear painful scars into our national psyche, the president is a man at leisure, rolling across the lush, manicured greenery of his private playground while his supporters cheer him on from outside the secure perimeter -- and his critics protest.”

His refusal to concede, his crying on Twitter about election fraud, his childish lawsuits, his rallying of white supremacists -- Trump's actions encapsulate white male privilege in its most dangerous form.

Thankfully, on November 3, an overwhelming majority of Americans rejected this: The first woman will now be second-in-command and we maintained control of the House.

But we still need to be on high alert. Victory doesn’t mean that such egregious -- and dangerous -- flaunting of white male privilege will just slink away.

And we really need to win the Senate to truly enact the change that our country so desperately needs.
