From the most staggering job losses occurring in the sectors that women employees dominate to the closing of childcare centers, the economic fallout from the GOP’s malpractice in handling the COVID-19 pandemic is placing an undue burden on women.
As The New York Times reports, our country’s economic collapse “is not just pushing women out of jobs they held, but also preventing many from seeking new ones. For an individual, it could limit prospects and earning over a lifetime. Across a nation, it could stunt growth, robbing the economy of educated, experienced and dedicated workers.”
Our Democratic leadership recognizes this and is desperately trying to pass the expansive COVID-19 relief bill we need -- but the usual suspects are doing everything in their power to block any kind of adequate aid at the cost of tens of thousands of more lives.
