Dear Friends,
Defending the world’s ocean requires passion, dedication, and teamwork. Our ships and crews are working valiantly on the front lines, protecting the planet’s most vulnerable marine species. These efforts are made possible through the commitment and generosity of people like you. You are a valued member of the Sea Shepherd team, and we deeply appreciate your continued support.
This Giving Tuesday, please join us in our fight and help Sea Shepherd continue to protect marine wildlife around the world by donating today at seashepherd.org/GivingTuesday. All donations will be matched, up to a maximum of $105,000. The CARES Act offers potential tax benefits to U.S. supporters for donations made before the end of the year.
Your gift-giving purchases can also help to protect the ocean. Show your support by shopping for official Sea Shepherd merchandise at our e-store. Sea Shepherd is also registered with Amazon Smile, which I encourage you to explore if shopping online this holiday season.

This month marks the completion of a collaborative effort aimed at removing abandoned fishing gear from the habitat of the critically endangered vaquita. Sea Shepherd, in partnership with local community members, retrieved 20 nets from the UNESCO-recognized Vaquita Refuge since the launch of the program in September 2020. Entanglement in fishing gear is the primary threat to the survival of the world’s most endangered marine mammal - the vaquita porpoise. The number of nets retrieved from the refuge during this two-month operation is greater than the total number of vaquitas left in existence, illustrating the urgency of our net retrieval operations in the Upper Gulf of California. Africa Campaigns: Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing Authorities arrested four trawlers this month as part of Operation Gambian Coastal Defence, a partnership between Sea Shepherd and the Government of The Gambia. Twenty vessels have been arrested through Operation Coastal Defence since the start of the collaboration in 2019. Sea Shepherd is committed to continuing our work of partnering with governments to stop illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing. Read the full story HERE.
Sea Shepherd Science: Beaked Whale Research Operation Divina Guadalupe, Sea Shepherd’s longest-running research campaign, remains at sea studying beaked whales in the waters off the west coast of Mexico. Thirty Cuvier’s beaked whales have been sighted this season in the Guadalupe Island Biosphere Reserve to-date, including four whale calves. By supporting scientists as they study the animals and ecosystems of Guadalupe Island, Sea Shepherd is contributing to the body of scientific work needed to shape policy and enhance protections.
