Our personal stories are powerful. The five newly posted videos include:
- Our featured 30th Anniversary Video, where former Executive Director Karuna Jaggar says, “There is nothing inevitable about breast cancer. It is not a rite of passage of womanhood.”
- Our first set of member testimonials. In this video, former board member Joann Loulan tells her cancer story, and how prevalent it is in her family. She states, “I do not have the BRCA 1 2 gene. Therefore, the truth is crucial to me. Why is this an epidemic and what can be do about it?”
- In Interim Executive Director Marj Plumb’s speech, she talks about this year’s successful Think Before You Pink® campaign and reflects on becoming BCAction’s Interim Executive Director, saying: “I knew I was entering into a legacy of powerful activists and radically unique perspectives on how to address and end the breast cancer epidemic”
- Another round of member testimonials, where supporter and author Mary Ladd comments, “I’m grateful to Breast Cancer Action for telling the truth about pink ribbons.”
- And founding member Belle Shayer’s speech. Belle details our early history and proudly says, “In October 1991… we delivered 600,000 letters to President Clinton and Congress urging increased funding for breast cancer research. We won, congress ordered the NIH to boost 1992 spending for breast cancer research 48%.”
Join us in celebrating the incredible work of our members, supporters, and current and former staff and board members by watching their video contributions today.
Thank you for being a part of our community.
In gratitude,
The Breast Cancer Action Team
