Sign our petition to demand Trump sign the National Defense Authorization Act into law and fully fund our military. This is critical to our national security.
Friends,
As one of Trump’s final acts before leaving office, he is threatening to veto the National Defense Authorization Act that funds our military and pays our servicemembers.
He is throwing this irresponsible temper tantrum because the NDAA includes a provision to finally rename military bases honoring Confederate generals who fought against the United States of America.
The provision for renaming bases had bipartisan support both in committee and on the floor of the Senate. Even Mitch McConnell voted to pass the NDAA! If Senate Republicans are on board, then President Trump should support the NDAA as well.
But it’s clear that Trump cares more about stoking racism and fulfilling campaign promises to his base than he does about our military. And don’t forget — his threat to veto the NDAA means he is willing to block a pay raise for our hardworking servicemembers in order to protect a relic of racism in this country.
It’s outrageous and dangerous — so I am speaking out. I hope you will join me.
As a Veteran and the descendent of Americans who fought on both sides of the Civil War, I know that our nation can honor its history without honoring a tradition of owning, selling, abusing and even killing Black Americans.
I also know that we need to fully fund our military in order to keep Americans and our troops safe.
So please, sign my petition demanding Trump stop his temper tantrum and fully fund our military.

Thanks for taking action.
All my best,
