Dear John
Millions of people around the world are expected to join Greta Thunberg and her fellow school strikers tomorrow to demand urgent climate action from the world’s leaders.
With people and nature already suffering the devastating impacts of the climate emergency, the time for politicians to step up is long overdue.
But the likes of Boris Johnson aren’t the only decision-makers who have the power to make a difference. Time and again it’s been local communities that’ve taken the initiative – and local action has led to global change.
So, will you join the call for a local climate action plan in your local authority? If enough of us demand action from our council, local authorities could help lead the way.

From the growing intensity of wildfires raging in the Arctic, to the increasing ferocity of tropical storms, climate breakdown is already here. And it’s the most vulnerable communities who are being hit the hardest from these impacts.
But instead of building the solutions, our government keeps making climate-wrecking decisions like supporting airport expansion and the fossil fuel industry overseas.
That's why we urgently need local authorities to lead the way and create their own ambitious local climate action plans. Plans that will tackle fuel poverty by promoting better insulation, and cut air pollution by funding public transport.
Will you support a climate action plan in your area?

With support from people like you, communities across the UK can build climate solutions where they live and create a movement so powerful that the government has no choice but to take stronger climate action.
Many thanks,
