Tell the Biden-Harris transition team:
“People are hurting & we need relief for our communities. Your administration will not succeed with half-measures. We need progressive allies who will put the needs of working people and marginalized communities first.”

Friend,
My district cannot wait another month, day, or hour for meaningful change. As one of the poorest congressional districts in the nation, we are on the frontlines of what it feels like to do nothing or be told to wait. We must make investments now to address generations of racial, social, economic, and environmental injustice.
Our district helped power Joe Biden’s win in Michigan. And now it’s time for our voices and our needs to be reflected in the new Biden-Harris administration.
Tell the Biden-Harris transition team: Reject those who will slow down relief during the pandemic. We need allies who will move with urgency to meet the needs of working people and vulnerable communities. We can’t cut our way out of this.
This week’s reports that the Biden-Harris transition team is considering deficit hawk Bruce Reed to head the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is deeply concerning. Reed previously headed the Bowles-Simpson fiscal commission under the Obama administration, which recommended massive cuts to Social Security and Medicare, including raising the retirement age.
The Office of Management and Budget sets the president’s budgetary agenda. Putting someone in charge who will implement austerity measures instead of addressing the pandemic-caused recession is not only dangerous to our immediate economic recovery, but will set our communities back for years to come.
Join me and our allies in calling on the Biden-Harris transition team to reject Bruce Reed from heading OMB and prioritize funding our communities’ needs.
We know that Republican austerity measures implemented during the Obama administration slowed our recovery from the Great Recession. In fact, Black and brown communities never recovered from that recession—and then the pandemic happened. Now’s the time to invest in our communities more than ever, not further cut our government spending.
Democrats were elected to advance bold policies to address systemic racism and economic inequality. Together, let’s make sure that those who helped elect Joe Biden are not left out of the administration and policy decisions that will impact us for generations to come.
Always serving you,
Rashida
