Legislators will return to Washington this week to continue work in the “lame duck” session of Congress, a period of time that is historically fraught with bad legislation. Rest assured, we are closely monitoring developments and are working to advance conservative priorities.
Here are some key bills to follow:
- Next week, the House will vote on Senator Harris’s and Representative Nadler’s bill to legalize and tax marijuana (H.R.3884). At a time when the integrity of our elections are under attack, it says a lot that this would be Nancy Pelosi’s priority.
- Pelosi also continues to push for a COVID-related spending bill that will contain hundreds of billions in bailout money for liberal states that ran up debts before the pandemic and have since embraced oppressive lockdowns that have stymied their economies.
- We are currently operating under a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the federal government until December 11th. This week, negotiators appear to have reached a deal that paves the way toward a massive omnibus spending bill. While no final agreement has been reached, we should expect (and be ready to oppose) a number of liberal priorities that are likely to be included.
- Congress also continues work on this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Liberals are trying to include a provision to rename military bases named after Confederate soldiers and President Trump has threatened to veto the whole bill if this provision is in the final text.
Thank you again for your time and support. This holiday season really is a time to cherish and remember all that we have to be grateful for.
The holidays also remind us of what we are fighting for—faith, family, and freedom.
Happy Thanksgiving!
