Dear
John,
Today is black Friday in the US, a day that illustrates how our
country runs on extractive consumerism and corporate greed. Low-wage
workers putting in long hours will be at risk today more than ever.
With the pandemic in its most dangerous phase yet, our essential
workers are more likely to be exposed to COVID-19. Furthermore, in
places like North Carolina where UFE is organizing, the minimum wage
is only $7.25 an hour, and workers often don’t have benefits like sick
time or health insurance.
A living wage should be a human right. Basic health and
safety should be a human right.
Give today – and support our work which has helped build a
coalition of low-wage workers, community leaders and activists in
North Carolina. Through our training network, we have trained many
organizers involved in this fight in facilitation and popular
education skills to grow the movement.
Giving Tuesday, a worldwide day of
supporting nonprofits, is just 4 days away... This year, make an
impact by becoming
a Movement Sustainer!
If you sign up before or on Giving Tuesday to become a
Movement Sustainer by giving $5 or more monthly or
$60 or more annually, we will send you a
free UFE face mask. They
are made by Puntada, an Immigrant women-owned Coop founded with the
help of our partner CCDS in East Boston, MA.
Our staff and board rocking
their UFE masks!
