Dear John,
I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This year has been difficult for so many of us, but through these times of hardship, the members of this community have been my inspiration.
I’m thankful for our frontline workers and first responders who risk their lives to keep our community safe.
I’m thankful for our educators, students, and parents who have had to adjust to remote and hybrid learning, even though we all desperately want kids back in classrooms.
I’m thankful for everyone who wears a mask and practices social distancing to decrease community spread of COVID-19 so that we can get back to normal as soon as possible.
Many of us have lost loved ones, lost jobs, lost time with our families, but I think we've also gained a sense of community responsibility and understanding that will continue long past COVID-19. Everyday, I'm inspired by the way Manchester has come together to support each other, including our vulnerable community members and local businesses through this pandemic.
While yesterday looked differently than it did last year, there’s still a lot to be thankful for, and I’m confident that, if we all do our part, we’ll come through this year as a stronger, more resilient community.
Joyce
