Did you catch the Chancellor's autumn spending review? We did, and here's our take on it.

❌ No support for local governments, failing to recognise the importance of the work done at community level

❌ Cuts to Universal Credit, even though it's needed more than ever

Inequality and suffering have been laid bare by the Coronavirus pandemic, and this was the government's chance to set things on a more positive course. As Caroline Lucas said earlier this week 'Moments of economic crisis are a time to think big and show ambition, especially when there is an urgency to address an even greater crisis than Covid – the climate and ecological emergency'. Sunak's response to this crisis is nothing short of a failure.

In 2021, we will be fighting our largest number of elections ever in one year. We won't let the events of this year be just another reminder of how broken our society is. Instead, Greens will be working to secure real and urgent change, taking us towards a transformed England and Wales. Will you take action with us, tip the balance of power and help put an end to business as usual? Better is possible when we build it together.
