John,
Last week, we told you about two of Joe Biden’s senior staff hires — a former Big Pharma lobbyist and one of the top recipients of fossil fuel money in Congress. Now, he’s considering MORE dangerous choices for top economic positions.
Biden’s top choice to lead the National Economic Council, Brian Deese, is an executive at one of Wall Street’s biggest firms and the world’s largest financial backer of fossil fuel projects — BlackRock. And Biden could hire Bruce Reed to set his administration’s budget priorities. Both of these picks have chosen austerity over policies to lift people up, and both have endorsed plans to cut Medicare and Social Security.
We’re pressuring Biden to keep these dangerous choices out of his White House — and focus on COVID relief stimulus and strengthening economic support for the people. Donate $3 right now to help us hit our goal of raising $55,251 before November is over so we can fund our budget and stay strong for these critical fights for the heart of the new administration.
We know how important it is to protect Medicare and Social Security — America’s stalwart benefits programs — and expand these programs. We know how important it is to create other benefits programs that will help people who need help during and after this pandemic. We can’t let the Biden administration start with senior staff that wants to CUT these programs and focus on austerity.
We’re already running a serious pressure campaign to keep Bruce Reed out of Biden’s senior staff — joined by other Justice Democrats AOC, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Jamaal Bowman, and Cori Bush, and progressive groups like Social Security Works and Data for Progress. And we need your help, especially as the month comes to a close, to fight for a Biden administration that will prioritize the needs of the people — NOT the interests of Wall Street.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
