We need you to help support afterschool meals for hungry kids.
Dear John,
Imagine if you were going home to an empty refrigerator tonight. You haven’t eaten since lunch, and you don’t have any money to buy groceries for dinner. What would you do?
It’s tough to think about, but nearly half of kids in teacher Allie Kistner’s first-grade classroom faced this very situation — going home to no dinner.
The kids grew more and more anxious as the day wore on, wondering if they would miss dinner that night and go without food until the next day. Allie’s heart ached, knowing many of them would go hungry.
John, every $10 you donate can provide up to 100 afterschool meals for kids in need.
Allie’s school is now one of the lucky ones. Thanks to generous support from people like you, No Kid Hungry helped institute an afterschool meals program.
It took a while for the kids to trust that these meals would continue, Allie told us, but “as soon as they knew that I wasn’t going to let them down, the cafeteria wasn’t going to let them down, then they took a deep breath and they had a sigh of relief.”
Every kid in America has a right to not be hungry, yet too many still live with hunger every day. Community by community, that’s a problem you can help solve.
