Demand that the Senate Ethics Committee fully investigate Sen. Lindsey Graham and take the strongest action within its authority to address his misconduct. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
PFAW Member,
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has made some ethically questionable decisions before, but his actions in the aftermath of this year’s elections have been beyond the pale. It’s long past time for him to face consequences for his despicable behavior.
On November 13, Sen. Graham called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger to pressure him to throw out legitimate votes in the 2020 election, which is a stunning violation of not only ethics regulations, but of a free and fair democracy. Raffensberger, a lifelong Republican who has himself been candid about wishing the election had “gone another way,”1 has been open about how stunned he was by this conversation.
Demand that the Senate Ethics Committee fully investigate Sen. Lindsey Graham and take the strongest action within its authority to address his misconduct. >>
Last week, three ethics experts – including the chief ethics lawyer for George W. Bush’s administration – formally asked the Senate Ethics Committee to look into this phone call, and we couldn’t agree more: Sen. Graham’s corruption must be investigated and he should be punished if the allegations are proven true.
After the Committee holds its review, the committee can recommend a variety of actions for rebuking Sen. Graham, including his censure, payment of restitution, or even expulsion from the Senate. The language used in the formal request asked for investigators to “take the strongest action within its authority” to address Graham’s misconduct.2
We need you to urge the Senate Ethics Committee to take Raffensberger’s account seriously: It is unacceptable for anyone to try to eliminate legally cast votes from an election, let alone a sitting Senator.
Add your name NOW to insist that the Senate Ethics Committee enact a thorough investigation into Sen. Graham’s behavior in the wake of the 2020 elections. >>
In unity,
– Sarah, PFAW
