For many of us, the beauty of our oceans and incredible marine life couldn’t seem further away right now. That’s why we’re bringing the oceans to you, with season two of our documentary series - Ocean Witness.

 

This four part series will explore the wonders of our blue planet, the threats our oceans face and the communities across the world who are taking action to protect them. Episode one is out now - click the button below to watch it!

Things have obviously been different this year, and the pandemic has rightly dominated the news and public conversation. But our oceans still need protecting from destructive fishing, plastic pollution and oil drilling. 

 

Here in the UK we’ve been taking action to stop destructive fishing in Marine Protected Areas - areas designed to protect important marine habitats and species. [1] In the North Sea, Greenpeace ship Esperanza blocked destructive bottom trawlers from ripping up the seabed in a Marine Protected Area, and stopped a supertrawler. [2]

 

But this is just the tip of what the Ocean Witness iceberg will bring you. We’ll be visiting communities across the world, hearing from ocean scientists and travelling to the Arctic with UK activist Mya-Rose Craig.
