Dear John,

Happy Thanksgiving Day to you and your family! This day represents an American tradition begun in 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Despite tremendous hardship, those early settlers paused and gathered together to thank God for the blessings they enjoyed in this new land. Many years later, on October 3, 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln formally established Thanksgiving as a national holiday in an effort to unite our country. And in 1942, President Franklin Roosevelt proclaimed the fourth Thursday of November as the official date for Thanksgiving.

As Americans, we certainly have much for which to be thankful. To live in freedom is surely the most precious right that we enjoy and, while most of us have been guilty of taking our freedoms for granted at times, we are all too aware of the threats that we face as a nation, both foreign and domestic. With that in mind, let's take an extra moment on this day to be especially mindful of the sacrifices of our veterans who have served our great country, and our active duty military who defend our country today while absent from their family's Thanksgiving tables.

As I prepare to become your Congressman on January 3, 2021, I want to assure you of my deepest commitment to stand for the freedoms that have made America, a land blessed by God, the greatest country on earth. Over the course of my campaign, I stood strong for the 1st Amendment, the 2nd Amendment and the protection of life. In writing the Constitution, our founding fathers laid down a roadmap for us to follow to ensure that our liberties are protected. I will endeavor to uphold the original intent of that document with every vote I take on behalf of the citizens of the 5trh District of Virginia. I pledge to do my job with honesty and integrity and to be accountable for my words and my actions.

On behalf of the Good family, I hope that you are able to connect with your loved ones near and far on this Thanksgiving Day, that you together remember the blessings we enjoy each day of the year, and that you find ways to support those most in need in your community.

May God bless you, and may God continue to bless America.

Bob
